DESIGN

in the four years that i've been out of high school, i've studied three different things at university. trying to choose something that you want to do for the rest of your life [or a significant part of it] is difficult. i've always always always been interested in design - it's something i've generally been pretty okay at. so first i pursued graphic design, there is parts i love + parts i hate.. but you get that with everything. then went on to study early childhood education [big change!!] which was something that i could not see myself doing. come this year i'm enrolled in an interior design course. 7 weeks into my first semester + i'm up to my ears in work to do, it's an intense course! the work load is just massive.. but while i'm sitting in my office at 1am in the morning - i think how much i love what i'm doing. sure, the hours are inconvenient.. but it's my passion for design that keeps me going through those sleepless nights before submissions. there are times where i am just so physically + emotionally drained that i want to just  sit there + cry, but it's that passion that gets me through those rough times.

any form of design career is something that you pursue for the love of it, it's not something you choose for the money or the good holidays. the design lifestyle can be incredibly stressful. a good nights sleep becomes a rare occasion + social lives tend to suffer. however, the satisfaction you feel when you turn your ideas into reality is just incredible. when you're finally finished! it's just an out of this world feeling.

at university i'm learning that i need to not be afraid of making mistakes, because an essential part of being creative is to not be afraid to fail. to just trust your gut + don't disregard a crazy, absurd sounding idea because it could just lead to something fantastic. to draw inspiration from everything around you, even the unconventional things + learn to look at everyday objects with a curious eye. always push it to the limits + think outside of the box.

AMAZING SPACE

so, for the past three weeks i've been learning all sorts of things about interior spaces + architecture. in my course, we have units that are combined with the architecture students - so we learn about both + how they go hand in hand. i've never been really into architecture.. i appreciate nice buildings + stuff.. but since starting this course, i realised how amazing it actually is!

i stumbled across this picture on pinterest this morning + it just took my breath away! it's so bold + colourful! the architects + interior designers worked together and ended up with an amazing space. the link at the bottom of the post will take you to a website with a bunch of other photos of the place.

anyway, i must get back to drawing.. i have a lot to do!

FAVOURITE FINDS

here's some of my current favourite finds + they all happen to be from witchery. i am especially loving those boots.. i am so fussy when it comes to boots. these ones even have a little metallic strap around the back, which makes them even better!

all day i've been drawing + sketching for one of my university subjects. while i have been doing that i've had spotify going - spotify is the best thing since sliced bread. for those who don't know, spotify is an app you can get for your phone + computer that lets you listen to music for free. anyway, i discovered dustin o'halloran, his piano solos are just incredible! i definitely recommend checking him out on spotify if you need some calm, peaceful music!

TAKE ME THERE / 04

paris. the city of a thousand greys.

morgan is off galavanting around europe right now, studying a semester abroad over in milan. before ending up in milan, she spent some time in london + paris. she's got plans to visit some other nearby countries + explore all of italy's got to offer!

sorry it's been pretty quiet over here lately - getting back into the swing of things at university is a challenge, especially after such a long break! on another note, my sister [who just moved back home from abu dhabi] is moving to sydney tomorrow - she sure gets around!

100 ABANDONED HOUSES

i stumbled across this website a long while ago + fell in love with these pictures.  who knew abandoned houses could look so pretty?! i guess for me the stereotypical 'abandoned house' is ugly + most probably haunted, haha! these pictures make abandoned houses look almost desirable! not going to lie, i am secretly loving the look of that castle looking house in the third picture.

they are from a website called 100 abandoned houses + i definitely recommend checking it out. there is some really beautiful old houses on there. the exterior style of the house is not something we see much of here in australia - which is a shame because they are so incredible!
